Description

Your Coveo-powered search page in Sitecore doesn’t load and/or returns a 500 error.

Browsing the REST Proxy (https://<INSTANCE_HOSTNAME>/coveo/rest), you see the following error:

Handler "CoveoSearchEndpoint" has a bad module "ManagedPipelineHandler" in its module list.

Environment

  • Coveo for Sitecore

  • All builds

Resolution

  1. Open your IIS Manager and look at the advanced settings for the app pool your Sitecore site is associated with.

  2. Change the Managed Pipeline mode to Integrated.

Explanation

The Sitecore instance running in Classic Pipeline mode can’t load the Coveo components properly. An integrated pipeline mode is needed.
