The sections in this article which are applicable to your subscription set forth the entitlements and limitations of your subscription. For clarity, these entitlements and limitations form part of your agreement with Coveo. Expand the section that corresponds to your Coveo subscription. For subscriptions purchased before March 25, 2021, or Commerce subscriptions purchased before July 28, 2025, refer to the Product entitlements (archives) section.

As part of the Coveo Platform, you can monitor your search consumption as defined by your agreement and entitlement. You can learn more about monitoring your consumption in the Monitor search consumption article. You can leverage the Coveo Administration Console to monitor your search and activities based on the entitlement within your license. You can find more information in the About the Administration Console article.

Coveo products are a combination of a Platform Plan, which currently can be Pro or Enterprise, and a Solution Plan, whether Commerce or Knowledge. Platform Plans provide baseline functionality access, while Solution Plans provide solution-specific feature access. A Coveo subscription will always be a combination of both.

Platform Plans

Details

The Coveo Knowledge Solutions are offered under both the Pro and Enterprise Platform Plans, while the Commerce Solutions are offered on the Enterprise Platform Plan only. Each plan comes with specific features that are included regardless of the product purchased. You can find your subscription’s Platform Plan on your Order.

The Platform Plans dictate access to some or all[1] of Coveo’s cloud connectors. Enterprise connectors, otherwise known as on-premises connectors, are optional add-ons available under the Enterprise Platform Plan. Additionally, Coveo offers Native integrations to popular Commerce and Service platforms.

Your Platform SDK integrations will continue to work without immediate interruption. Details

Coveo’s Knowledge Solutions cover three different use cases: (1) Service, (2) Workplace, and (3) Website, represented by the following products:

Use Restrictions for User-Based Offerings. Subscriptions priced on a per-user basis may be used solely by a natural person, and the use of artificial intelligence agents, bots, automated tools, scripts, or other non-human or programmatic tools is expressly prohibited in connection with such user-based offerings. AI agents or other automated or non-human users may be used only pursuant to an offering priced on a queries-per-month basis. If Coveo identifies any non-permitted use, Coveo reserves the right to suspend such use unless and until Customer has subscribed to an offering priced on a queries-per-month basis.

Commerce Add-ons

Native Integrations and Connectors

Coveo offers Native UI Integrations to the following commerce platforms: SAP, Shopify, and Salesforce. This gives non-technical users access to drag-and-drop UI elements right out of the box, so you can get started quickly. Plus, Coveo takes care of feature updates and compatibility as frameworks change and new product releases come out.

The included connectors can be found in the connector directory, while you can get more information on available solutions and integrations on the solutions and integrations page. The SAP, Salesforce, and Shopify integrations, as well as specific on-premises connectors, can be purchased separately.

Personalization-As-You-Go

Coveo Personalization-as-you-go is a suite of functionalities designed to create 1:1 personalized search and product discovery experiences in real time, without requiring user login or prior user history. It uses in-session event data and advanced machine learning (ML) models, specifically Intent-Aware Product Ranking (IAPR), Session-Based Product Recommendation (SBPR), and Predictive Query Suggestion (PQS), to predict shopper intent and adjust experiences accordingly. Finally, Real-Time Adaptation adjusts to a shopper’s behavior during their visit by learning from their searches, clicks, and views, leveraging the in-session machine learning models.

Business-Aware Product Ranking [Beta]

Business-Aware Product Ranking is an innovative application of machine learning designed to enhance ecommerce search and product discovery. It aims to balance multiple objectives, ensuring that product relevance to customers is optimized alongside key business outcomes such as revenue and margins.

Key features of this add-on include AI-First Approach, using AI techniques to optimize product ranking, a KPI-Agnostic approach that allows for a more comprehensive optimization strategy, and dynamic optimization that allows users to adapt to changing business goals and customer behaviors.

Catalog Index Extension

The Catalog Index Extension allows adding units of 100K catalog items to the baseline Coveo for Commerce package, which comes with a fixed 100K items as a starter amount. This allows for increased customization based on the user’s catalog and needs.

Product Recommendation Extension

Every 100K QPM come with 100K product recommendations per month. If additional recommendations need to be added to the Customer’s Coveo for Commerce Package, they can be purchased per unit of 100K product recommendations per month to fit the commerce experience the Customer wants to provide to their customers.

Generative Product Discovery [Beta]

Generative Product Discovery enhances the ecommerce experience by integrating generative AI into the shopping process. This approach allows shoppers to engage in natural language conversations rather than relying on specific keywords.

Key features are the intent box, which is an evolution of the traditional search bar that interprets user intent and context, providing tailored product suggestions and relevant content; natural interaction, meaning that shoppers can ask open-ended questions, receiving AI-generated answers that align with their needs; and personalization, as the system adapts to each shopper’s preferences, through a more intuitive and effective discovery process.

The following add-ons are available for your subscription:

Index Extension

An additional add-on that can be purchased to customize the entitlement is the Index Extension. If the number of documents and items to be indexed is greater than the baseline entitlement provided by the acquired SKU, it is possible to extend it with the Index Extension.

Each unit of the Index Extension provides up to an additional one million (1,000,000) items.

OCR Extension

OCR, otherwise known as optical character recognition, is a technology that enables the extraction of text from images and PDF files, making that text searchable and viewable. The OCR Extension allows for an increased number of documents that can be processed through the OCR pipeline.

Each unit allows for up to one hundred thousand (100,000) additional documents to be processed through OCR per unit.

Enterprise Connector

The Enterprise Connector add-on gives the opportunity to add a data source for indexing to a Coveo organization, such as the ODBC connector, the REST API On-Prem Crawling Module, and more. They can be found under Universal Connectors on the Coveo website.

Each unit of Enterprise Connector allows for an additional source type of your choice.

Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)

Bring Your Own Key is a security feature that allows customers to manage their own encryption keys for data stored in Coveo. This feature enhances data security by enabling customers to encrypt their index data at rest using keys they provide and manage through AWS Key Management Service (KMS).

Key benefits include:

  • Control: Customers have full control over their encryption keys, allowing them to revoke access to their data at any time.

  • Security: In case of a security incident, customers can quickly revoke Coveo’s access to their data by changing their keys, ensuring that the data remains protected.

  • Compliance: BYOK helps organizations meet internal and regulatory compliance requirements by providing greater control over data encryption.

Although beneficial, some important considerations need to be taken into account:

  • Scope: BYOK only applies to index data at rest, including backups. It does not extend to all uses of index data within Coveo’s services, such as AI services or certain machine learning models.

  • Responsibilities: Customers are responsible for managing their keys, including revocation and generation of new keys if they suspect compromise.

  • Contractual implications: The contract with Coveo must be amended to clarify that customers own the keys and that Coveo is not liable for any loss of access due to customer actions regarding their keys.

Generative AI Solutions

Details

Coveo’s Generative AI suite of products are add-ons to the standard products. They are a way to enhance the user experience, search relevance, and information retrieval. They must be used in concert with a standard Coveo Subscription product.

The following add-ons are part of the Generative AI suite:

Passage Retrieval API

The Passage Retrieval API (PR API) is designed for developers to extract specific sections of text, known as passages, from documents stored in Coveo. This API enhances the retrieval of ranked text data, making it particularly useful for various applications, including improving large language models (LLMs).

The PR API is particularly beneficial for customers looking to integrate their own LLMs, allowing them to focus on retrieving the most relevant text chunks for further processing. This flexibility enables customization of the generation phase according to specific needs.

Each unit of the Passage Retrieval API is entitled as follows:

  • 100K PR API Queries per Month ("PQPM")

  • 50K Semantic Items (max 15M)

It also includes a Semantic Encoder and 3 CPR (Passage Retrieval) models.

Coveo Relevance Generative Answering

Coveo Relevance Generative Answering ("CRGA") utilizes generative AI technology to provide answers to complex natural language queries within a Coveo-powered search interface.

Key features of "CRGA" include:

  • Real-time Answer Generation based on specific enterprise content, which is securely indexed;

  • Integration with existing features, taking advantage of Coveo’s AI, personalization, recommendations, and security features;

  • Enhanced user experience which leverages a single search box to accommodate simple and complex queries;

  • Dynamic updates, meaning that if a user applies filters, the generated answer will update on-the-fly to maintain relevance;

  • Citations, referencing the content used to generate the answer.

Each unit of Coveo Relevance Generative Answering is entitled as follows:

  • 100K Generative Queries per Month ("GQPM")

  • 50K Semantic Items (max 15M)

It also includes a Semantic Encoder (SE) and 3 Relevance Generative Answering (RGA) models.

Coveo for Agentforce

Coveo for Agentforce combines a native integration with Salesforce and Coveo’s Passage Retrieval API meant to enhance the capabilities of Agentforce AI Agents and power custom retrieval-powered GenAI applications. It leverages Coveo’s advanced retrieval technology to provide accurate and relevant answers from complex content repositories.

Coveo allows customers to unify knowledge from various sources, making it the single source of truth for Agentforce, which is crucial for effective AI performance. With Coveo acting as a unified source of knowledge, users can experience a relevant, accurate, and consistent agentic, GenAI, and search experience across the system.

Each unit of Coveo for Agentforce is entitled as follows:

  • 100K Passage Retrieval Queries per Month ("PQPM")

  • 50K Semantic Items (max 15M)

Semantic Items

Semantic Items for the Passage Retrieval API and Coveo Relevance Generative Answering are selected amongst the user’s entitled index items.

Semantic Items refer to elements or data points that are processed and understood based on their meaning rather than just their literal text. In the context of semantic search, items are identified through techniques such as embeddings, natural language processing (NLP), and related concepts.

Leveraging Semantic Items, and the related techniques, allows for enhanced relevance, better interpretation of user intent, and broader result sets. Semantic Items and search leverage similar and related concepts rather than exact words, which allows for better interpretation of the user intent, leading to more accurate and useful outcomes. Additionally, the retrieval reaches a wider range of results, aligning better with the user’s needs, beyond exact keyword matches.

Customers can add Semantic Items to their subscription in increments as needed.
