Seed product

A Seed product is a product that’s used as a reference point to generate recommendations in a recommendation slot powered by a seeded strategy. This is the equivalent of the product being viewed by one of your customers.

For example, if you’re using a recommendation slot to recommend additional products on a product detail page (PDP), the product being viewed on the PDP is the seed product. Similarly, if you’re using a recommendation slot to recommend products on a cart page, the products in the user’s cart are the seed products.

For a seeded strategy to work, one or more seed products must be passed in requests to the Commerce API to generate recommendations.
