Data processing and residency

This is for:

System Administrator

Coveo understands that some of its customers are limited in their capacity to accept cross-border transfer of their data into third countries. Whether it be for regulatory, commercial, or security reasons, Coveo is committed to providing options to customers when it comes to where their data is stored. Coveo therefore offers two options relative to customer data processing and storage.

Data residency

Coveo offers the possibility to store customer data within the following regions:

  • United States

  • Canada

  • European Union

  • Australia

Customers can choose one of the listed regions to store their data.

Multinational customers are also offered a logical separation of their environments to store data in two regions. Additional regions may be added at a later date.

Note

When a Coveo customer requests a primary deployment region data migration, Coveo must first create the new organization in the desired region. The old organization is maintained and available for a given time period only, as determined by Coveo and the customer.

Active-Active configuration

Organizations can benefit from an Active-Active configuration. With Active-Active, Coveo automatically reroutes traffic to a secondary healthy region in order to help increase the resiliency of your implementation. Active-Active follows data processing restrictions set out in Coveo’s Data Processing Addendum.

Availability:

Region Secondary region

US East

US Midwest

Note

Active-Active is currently only available for non-HIPAA, production (that is, not non-production) Coveo organizations.

For more information, see Active-Active resiliency.

Multi-region support

Coveo supports multi-region processing to get faster query results across different regions. Some components such as the Search API, Machine Learning models, and indexes are replicated on a secondary location, keeping all initial components on the primary location. This option is only implemented upon customer approval.

Currently, Coveo supports multi-region processing for the following regions:

  • Eastern United States

  • Canada

  • Western Europe

  • Australia
