Exclude rules for product listing pages

This is for:

Developer

In the Product listings manager of the Coveo Merchandising Hub (CMH), merchandisers can define Exclude filter rules to hide specific products from product listing pages (PLPs).

Exclude filter rules can apply to all product listing pages or to a specific product listing page only. They can also be scheduled to apply at specific times, allowing merchandisers to plan and execute their strategies more effectively.

Use case examples

Exclude filter rules can be used to address a variety of use cases. Here are a few examples:

  • You want to ensure that out-of-stock products aren’t displayed on PLPs. For example, you can create a rule to exclude products where the in_stock attribute value is FALSE.

  • You want to ensure that products with certain undesirable attributes aren’t shown on a PLP. For example, you can create a rule to exclude products where the brand attribute value is Acme.

Prerequisites

To create rules, merchandisers must ensure they have properly configured their query pipeline and chosen the correct tracking ID to ensure that their changes impact the intended listing pages.

Create an exclude rule

To create a rule:

  1. In the CMH, access the Product listings manager.

  2. From the navigation tabs, select Filter rules.

  3. Click Create filter rule, and then, depending on whether you want to apply the exclude rule to a specific listing page or to all listing pages, select the appropriate option.

  4. Select the Locale for which the exclude rule will apply. By default, a rule applies to all available locales.

  5. Select the Listing page to which the exclude rule will apply, and then click Done. Note that if you selected to apply the exclude rule to all listing pages, you won’t be able to select a listing page.

  6. Under Choose an action, select Exclude.

  7. Under Attribute, select the attribute on which you want to apply the exclude rule. For example, if you want to exclude products based on the brand attribute, select brand.

  8. Under Operator, select the operator that you want to use.

  9. Under Value, select the attribute value that you want to use to filter products. For example, if you want to filter products based on the brand attribute, enter the brand value that you want to use as a filter, such as Barca Sports. Note that you can select multiple values for the attribute.

  10. (Optional) If you want to add more attribute-value pairs to the exclude rule, click Add attribute and repeat the process.

  11. Click Done.
