Help Salesforce users find relevant customer, product, and service content in the workflows where they already work. * Search Salesforce and external content from a unified [index](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204.md). * Surface relevant results in Salesforce Lightning Experience and Experience Cloud. * Use usage analytics and Coveo relevance capabilities to improve search experiences over time. ## Recommended integration architecture The Coveo for Salesforce package connects the Salesforce organization to the [Coveo Platform](https://docs.coveo.com/en/186.md). A Coveo Salesforce source retrieves selected Salesforce records and access permissions through Salesforce APIs and indexes them in Coveo. The package provides a Coveo Hosted Insight Panel component that you add to a Salesforce record page and connect to a Coveo Hosted Insight Panel configuration. The component requests relevant content from the Coveo Insight Panel APIs and sends usage analytics to Coveo. The following diagram shows the recommended Salesforce integration components and their interactions. The APIs return relevant content to the component. | | 4 | The Coveo Hosted Insight Panel component sends usage analytics to the Coveo Platform, where it can support machine learning models that improve relevance. | ## Prerequisites Before you start, make sure you have the following: * A Salesforce organization and a Salesforce administrator account to install and configure the Coveo for Salesforce package. * A [Coveo organization](https://docs.coveo.com/en/185.md) with the [privileges](https://docs.coveo.com/en/228.md) required to configure the Coveo for Salesforce application and manage [sources](https://docs.coveo.com/en/246.md). * Coveo Connected Apps and a dedicated Salesforce crawling user that can access the Salesforce objects you want to [index](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204.md), as described in [Create a dedicated Salesforce crawling user](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1052.md#prerequisite-create-a-dedicated-salesforce-crawling-user). ## Integrate Salesforce and Coveo Follow these steps to install and configure the productized Coveo for Salesforce integration. ### Step 1: Install and configure Coveo for Salesforce Follow [Install the Coveo for Salesforce application](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1102.md) to install the package from Salesforce AppExchange. Then follow [Configure the Coveo for Salesforce application](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1153.md) to connect the package to a Coveo organization. ### Step 2: Configure the Salesforce source Follow [Add a Salesforce source](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1052.md) to select the Salesforce content to [index](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204.md) and configure its content security. ### Step 3: Index your Salesforce content [Build the source](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2039.md), then use the [**Content Browser**](https://platform.cloud.coveo.com/admin/#/orgid/content/browser/) ([platform-ca](https://platform-ca.cloud.coveo.com/admin/#/orgid/content/browser/) | [platform-eu](https://platform-eu.cloud.coveo.com/admin/#/orgid/content/browser/) | [platform-au](https://platform-au.cloud.coveo.com/admin/#/orgid/content/browser/)) to verify the indexed items. ### Step 4: Create source mappings and fields Create the required [source mappings and fields](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1640.md) to index the metadata you want to use in search experiences. ### Step 5: Configure the Coveo Hosted Insight Panel in the Coveo Platform Follow [Manage Hosted Insight Panel configurations](https://docs.coveo.com/en/m5k70425.md#add-an-insight-panel-configuration) to create a configuration and select its dedicated query pipeline. Then use [Insight Panel Builder](https://docs.coveo.com/en/m68b0168.md#access-the-insight-panel-builder) to build the interface. ### Step 6: Add the Coveo Hosted Insight Panel component in Salesforce Follow [Integrate a Coveo Hosted Insight Panel component](https://docs.coveo.com/en/m7ed8015.md) to add the component to a Salesforce record page, select the configuration by name, and activate the page. ## Considerations The Salesforce objects, fields, and permissions you choose to [index](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204.md) affect the search experience and the resources required for [indexing](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204.md).
