### Time period analysis and comparison

The CMH enables merchandisers to analyze performance metrics over specific time periods.
Users can select a predefined or customized date range to tailor their analysis.

![CMH time picker | Coveo](https://docs.coveo.com/en/assets/images/coveo-for-commerce/images/cmh/cmh-time-picker.png)

To access and switch between available time periods, use the date picker on the **Recommendations** page or the detail page to select your date range and click **Apply**.
By default, the **All time** time period is displayed.

The following predefined time periods are available:

* **All time**: Displays the sum of all data since the first tracked metric onward.
This option is selected by default unless modified.

* **Last quarter**: Displays metrics for the most recent quarter.

* **Last month**: Displays metrics for the most recent calendar month.

* **Last week**: Displays metrics for the most recent calendar week.

* **Today's metrics**: Shows data recorded for the current day.
Data is updated every hour.

## Custom date range selection

Users can select a specific start and end date to analyze metrics for any desired period.
This provides flexibility for examining data beyond the predefined ranges.

## Compare feature

The CMH includes a compare feature, which allows users to compare metrics between two date ranges.
Users can select custom date ranges or choose from predefined comparison periods.

To use this feature:

1. Select the first date range using the date picker.

1. Click **Compare** and choose a second date range or a predefined comparison period.

1. Click **Apply**.

The CMH will display the difference between the comparison periods.
It will highlight the percentage change, either increased or decreased, to help identify trends and performance variations.

### Discrepancies between reports

Figures shown for metrics in [Coveo Merchandising Hub (CMH)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o5290573.md) manager reports may differ from those for the same metrics in the [**Reports**](https://platform.cloud.coveo.com/admin/#/orgid/usage/reports/) ([platform-ca](https://platform-ca.cloud.coveo.com/admin/#/orgid/usage/reports/) | [platform-eu](https://platform-eu.cloud.coveo.com/admin/#/orgid/usage/reports/) | [platform-au](https://platform-au.cloud.coveo.com/admin/#/orgid/usage/reports/)) page of the Coveo Administration Console, [Commerce Advanced Reports](https://docs.coveo.com/en/lbtf7260.md), and [Coveo Merchandising Hub (CMH)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o5290573.md) Overview reports, because each report type applies different filters and processing rules.

| Behavior | Administration Console reports | Commerce Advanced Reports | CMH Overview | CMH Search manager reports |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| `searchboxAsYouType` in query counts | Included | Included | Included | Excluded |
| `searchboxAsYouType` in revenue attribution | Included | Included | Included | Excluded |
| `searchboxAsYouType` in clickthrough rate | Included | Excluded | Excluded | Excluded |
| `searchboxAsYouType` in average click rank | Included | Excluded | Excluded | Excluded |
| Query case normalization | Case-sensitive | Case-insensitive | Case-insensitive | Case-insensitive |
| Timezone | UTC | Browser timezone | Browser timezone | Browser timezone |

The main drivers of discrepancies between report types are:

* `searchboxAsYouType` event handling:
Report types differ in whether they count search events where the [event cause](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2948.md#search-event-cause) is [`searchboxAsYouType`](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2948.md#searchboxasyoutype-performsearch-manual):

** Administration Console reports include these events in all metrics.

** Commerce Advanced Reports and [Coveo Merchandising Hub (CMH)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o5290573.md) Overview reports include them in search counts and revenue, but exclude them from clickthrough rate and average click rank to avoid diluting click-based metrics with product suggestion events.

** [Coveo Merchandising Hub (CMH)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o5290573.md) [Search manager](https://docs.coveo.com/en/p63f0210.md) reports exclude them from all metrics to remove noise from product suggestions.

This means Search manager reports show lower search counts and revenue than other report types.
If your implementation includes product suggestions in the search box, revenue may also differ between [Coveo Merchandising Hub (CMH)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o5290573.md) Overview and Search manager reports.

* Query case normalization:
Commerce Advanced Reports and [Coveo Merchandising Hub (CMH)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o5290573.md) reports normalize queries to lowercase, so "shoes", "Shoes", and "SHOES" are counted as one query.
Administration Console reports may count them separately.

* Timezone:
Administration Console reports use UTC.
Commerce Advanced Reports and [Coveo Merchandising Hub (CMH)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o5290573.md) reports use the browser's local timezone, which can shift daily totals near day boundaries.

## Strategy and rules

Clicking the **Strategy & rules** tab displays the different strategies and rules that are applied to this specific recommendation slot.
