# Use in Shopify
The [Coveo Platform](https://docs.coveo.com/en/186/) is a powerful, multi-layered AI search solution, and [Coveo for Commerce](https://docs.coveo.com/en/ladb6157/) is specifically tailored for B2C and B2B commerce implementations.
By adding Coveo-powered search to your Shopify [storefront](https://docs.coveo.com/en/p33g0410/), you can enhance personalized shopper journeys, improve conversion rates, and increase revenue per visit.

This article gives an overview of how the [Coveo Platform](https://docs.coveo.com/en/186/) works for Shopify users.

## Implementing Coveo

The [**Coveo AI Search & Discovery**](https://docs.coveo.com/en/p2la0421/) app makes it easy to implement Coveo-powered [search interfaces](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2741/) in your Shopify [storefront](https://docs.coveo.com/en/p33g0410/).
It automates a lot of features that you would otherwise have to set up through tools like the [Coveo Administration Console](https://docs.coveo.com/en/183/) and [Coveo Merchandising Hub (CMH)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o5290573/).

The app also sets you up to add Coveo-powered product listing and recommendation interfaces by [indexing your Shopify product catalog](#indexing-your-product-catalog) and [implementing event tracking](#tracking-your-events).
However, you can't currently create these interfaces directly in the app, so you'll have to do some additional configuration in the [Administration Console](https://docs.coveo.com/en/183/) and [CMH](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o5290573/).

## Indexing your product catalog

The [Coveo Platform](https://docs.coveo.com/en/186/) queries an [index](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204/) to return [items](https://docs.coveo.com/en/pa8f6515/).
In the context of Shopify, your [index](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204/) stores the data from your Shopify product catalog in your [Coveo organization](https://docs.coveo.com/en/185/).

## Tracking your events

It's crucial that you track [touchpoints](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o6ha0421/) to analyze [storefront](https://docs.coveo.com/en/p33g0410/) performance, create reports, and power [Coveo Machine Learning (Coveo ML)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/188/) [models](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1012/).
You can do this by sending events to the [Coveo Analytics](https://docs.coveo.com/en/182/) service.

## Building your commerce interface

Whether you use the **Coveo AI Search & Discovery** app or create your own custom implementation, you'll need to build your own commerce interface to leverage Coveo in your Shopify storefront.
You can use either [Coveo Atomic with Shopify Liquid](https://docs.coveo.com/en/oc2d1153/) or [Coveo Headless with Shopify Hydrogen](https://docs.coveo.com/en/p1oe2163/).
