When you sync your Shopify product catalog with the [Coveo Platform](https://docs.coveo.com/en/186/), all products and [variants](https://docs.coveo.com/en/q2bb0284/) that [meet the prerequisites](#indexing-prerequisites) are [indexed](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204/) in your [Coveo organization](https://docs.coveo.com/en/185/). The app also creates or updates various [resources](https://docs.coveo.com/en/q2bb0227/) in your [organization](https://docs.coveo.com/en/185/) whenever you launch a sync. This article lists [a few scenarios](#when-to-manually-sync-your-catalog) in which you must manually sync your Shopify product catalog with Coveo. It also describes the [source update schedule](#source-update-schedule) if you enable automatic catalog synchronization. ## Indexing prerequisites The [Coveo Platform](https://docs.coveo.com/en/186/) only [indexes](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204/) Shopify products that meet the following prerequisites: * Their **Status** is set to **Active**. * They are published to the **Online Store**. ## When to manually sync your catalog You can enable automatic catalog synchronization in the **Coveo AI Search & Discovery** app. However, this only lets the app sync your Shopify product catalog with Coveo [on a set schedule](#source-update-schedule). It won't reflect any configuration changes you make to your Shopify [storefront](https://docs.coveo.com/en/p33g0410/). You must manually launch a sync of your Shopify product catalog with Coveo in the following situations: * When you first link your store to your [Coveo organization](https://docs.coveo.com/en/185/) * When you add or delete a [market](https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/build/markets) * When you add or delete a country within a market * When you add or delete a language within a market * When you change a market's base currency * When you change your [multi-market domain setup](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/international/international-domains/setting-up-unique-urls/set-up-urls) * When you add, change, or delete product or [variant](https://docs.coveo.com/en/q2bb0284/) [metafields](https://docs.coveo.com/en/q2bb0227#metafields), or update which ones to use as Coveo custom [fields](https://docs.coveo.com/en/200/) or [facets](https://docs.coveo.com/en/198/) * When you change a store [domain](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/domains) To manually launch a sync of your Shopify product catalog with Coveo, click **Launch sync** on the app's **Catalog sync** tab. ## Source update schedule By default, if you enable automatic catalog synchronization, the Coveo [sources](https://docs.coveo.com/en/246/) are updated according to the following schedule: * [Refresh](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2039#refresh) every 15 minutes. This ensures that [item](https://docs.coveo.com/en/pa8f6515/) updates are reflected in the Coveo [index](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204/) within 15 minutes. * [Rescan](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2039#rescan) every hour. This ensures that removed products are reflected in the Coveo [index](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204/) within an hour.
