These merchandising rules are designed to optimize search relevance and user experience, ensuring that each PLP yields the most appropriate and strategically beneficial results. These rules can be implemented globally across all PLPs or applied to one or more specific PLPs. They can also be scheduled to apply at specific times, allowing merchandisers to plan and execute strategies effectively. You can implement the following types of rules: * [**Filter rules**](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o5sf1454/) let merchandisers include or exclude products on PLPs based on specific product attributes. ** [**Include rules**](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o5sf2528/): Force specific products to be returned. ** [**Exclude rules**](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o5sf3251/): Prevent specific products from appearing. Think of this as a blocklist of products that shouldn't appear on PLPs. * [**Ranking rules**](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o5sf2373/) let merchandisers pin, boost, or bury products on PLPs based on predefined criteria. ** [**Pin rules**](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o5sf0214/): Force specific products to appear at predefined positions on PLPs. ** [**Boost rules**](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o5sf4480/): Increase the ranking of specific products. ** [**Bury rules**](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o5sf4243/): Decrease the ranking of specific products. ### Priority of rule operations When working with rules in the Product listings manager, it's important to understand the priority of rule operations. Here is the order in which rules are applied: . **Pins**: Pins have the highest priority and are applied first. . **Exclude**: Exclusion rules are applied next, taking precedence over inclusion rules. . **Include**: Inclusion rules are applied after the exclusion rules. . **Boost/Bury**: Boost and bury rules are applied last, after the inclusion and exclusion rules. ## Facet collections Merchandisers can use the **Facets** tab of the [Product listings manager](https://docs.coveo.com/en/p64e0262/) to create [facet collections](https://docs.coveo.com/en/p5890502/). These enhance how customers refine products with [facets](https://docs.coveo.com/en/198/) on Coveo-powered PLPs. Refer to the [Facets for product listing pages](https://docs.coveo.com/en/p5da0252/) article to learn how to create and manage [facet collections](https://docs.coveo.com/en/p5890502/) in the [Product listings manager](https://docs.coveo.com/en/p64e0262/). ## Product listing pages [product listing pages (PLPs)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/m1sf3187/) let customers browse, filter, and sort products, enhancing their shopping experience and simplifying the selection process. See [Performance metrics](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o9ja0562#performance-metrics) for more information. ### Discrepancies between reports Figures shown for metrics in [Coveo Merchandising Hub (CMH)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o5290573/) reports may differ from those for the same metrics in the [**Reports**](https://platform.cloud.coveo.com/admin/#/orgid/usage/reports/) ([platform-ca](https://platform-ca.cloud.coveo.com/admin/#/orgid/usage/reports/) | [platform-eu](https://platform-eu.cloud.coveo.com/admin/#/orgid/usage/reports/) | [platform-au](https://platform-au.cloud.coveo.com/admin/#/orgid/usage/reports/)) page of the Coveo Administration Console. These discrepancies typically occur because different reports use distinct filters and processing rules when calculating figures for the same metric. The most common reason is the inclusion of `searchBoxAsYouType` events. By default, reports from the [**Reports**](https://platform.cloud.coveo.com/admin/#/orgid/usage/reports/) ([platform-ca](https://platform-ca.cloud.coveo.com/admin/#/orgid/usage/reports/) | [platform-eu](https://platform-eu.cloud.coveo.com/admin/#/orgid/usage/reports/) | [platform-au](https://platform-au.cloud.coveo.com/admin/#/orgid/usage/reports/)) page include search events where the [event cause](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2948#search-event-cause) is [`searchBoxAsYouType`](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2948#searchboxasyoutype-performsearch-manual). This can result in higher query figures compared to the Commerce Advanced Reports or CMH reports, which exclude these events by default.
