--- title: Configure filtering options slug: n8sa0269 canonical_url: https://docs.coveo.com/en/n8sa0269/ collection: service source_format: adoc --- # Configure filtering options The **Filtering options** panel of the Coveo Insight Panel Builder lets you configure navigation components such as [facets](https://docs.coveo.com/en/198/) and [tabs](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1406/). ![Insight Panel Builder](https://docs.coveo.com/en/assets/images/coveo-customer-service/filtering-options-with-version-history.png) Specifically, it offers the following capabilities: * [Manage facets](#manage-facets) * [Manage tabs](#manage-tabs) ## Manage facets The **Facets** section of the **Filtering options** panel lets you perform the following tasks: * [Enable or disable facets](#enable-or-disable-facets) * [Add facets](#add-facets) * [Edit facets](#edit-facets) * [Delete facets](#delete-facets) * [Reorder facets](#reorder-facets) ### Enable or disable facets > **Note** > > The **Source**, **Author**, and **Item type** facets are enabled by default. . To enable or disable all [facets](https://docs.coveo.com/en/198/), click **On** or **Off** respectively in the **Facets** section. > **Tip** > > The **Use dynamic navigation** setting [reorders facets](#reorder-facets) and their values based on a user's query so that the most relevant options appear at the top. > This setting is enabled by default but has no effect unless a [Dynamic Navigation Experience (DNE)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2907/) model has already been created and associated with a query pipeline (see [Step1:Optimize search performance](https://docs.coveo.com/en/m7ak9250#step-1-optimize-search-performance)). . Click **Save**. > **Important** > > Saving the Insight Panel Builder configuration after disabling facets deletes the existing facet configurations. > Although you will be able to add new facets after reloading the page, the previous ones will no longer exist. ### Add facets . [Access the Insight Panel Builder](https://docs.coveo.com/en/m68b0168#access-the-insight-panel-builder). . Click **Filtering options**. . In the **Facets** section, click **Add facet**. . [[Field]]In the **Select a field** dropdown list, select a facet field (for example, `year` or `itemtype`). > **Tip** > > Start typing a Coveo field name in the dropdown menu to filter by name, and then select the desired field. The **Name** field defaults to the field name, but you can modify it. . [[Display]]In the **Display** section, select one of the following options: * **Checkbox** to display a checkbox next to the field values. * **Link** to display the field values as links. . Click **Done** to apply your changes. . Click **Save**. ### Edit facets . [Access the Insight Panel Builder](https://docs.coveo.com/en/m68b0168#access-the-insight-panel-builder). . Click **Filtering options**. . In the **Facets** section, expand the facet card you want to modify. . Modify the information displayed in the [**Field**](#Field), [**Name**](#FacetName), or [**Display**](#Display) sections, as appropriate. . Click **Done** to apply your changes. . Click **Save**. ### Delete facets . [Access the Insight Panel Builder](https://docs.coveo.com/en/m68b0168#access-the-insight-panel-builder). . Click **Filtering options**. . In the **Facets** section, expand the facet card you want to delete. . Click [delete] to delete the facet. . Click **Save**. ### Reorder facets . [Access the Insight Panel Builder](https://docs.coveo.com/en/m68b0168#access-the-insight-panel-builder). . Click **Filtering options**. . In the **Facets** section, perform one of the following tasks: * (Default) To reorder facets and their values based on a user's query so that the most relevant options appear at the top, enable the **Use dynamic navigation** setting. > **Tip** > > This setting has no effect unless a [DNE](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2907/) model has already been created and associated with a query pipeline (see [Step1:Optimize search performance](https://docs.coveo.com/en/m7ak9250#step-1-optimize-search-performance)). * To reorder facets manually, disable the **Use dynamic navigation** setting, click [move] on a **Facet** card, and then drag the card in the desired order. . Click **Save** to apply your changes. ## Manage tabs The **Tabs** section of the **Filtering options** panel lets you perform the following tasks: * [Enable or disable tabs](#enable-or-disable-tabs) * [Add tabs](#add-tabs) * [Edit tabs](#edit-tabs) * [Delete tabs](#delete-tabs) * [Reorder tabs](#reorder-tabs) ### Enable or disable tabs > **Note** > > Tabs are disabled by default. . To enable or disable all [tabs](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1406/), click **On** or **Off** respectively in the **Tabs** section. > **Note** > > The **All** tab can't be deleted and is provided by default to ensure all content can be viewed. . Click **Save**. ### Add Tabs . [Access the Insight Panel Builder](https://docs.coveo.com/en/m68b0168#access-the-insight-panel-builder). . Click **Filtering options**. . In the **Tabs** section, click **Add tab**. . [[TabsLabel]]In the **Label** field, enter the name that will be displayed on the tab in the Insight Panel. . [[TabsUsage]]Under **Usage**, click **Add condition** to determine the content that will be part of this tab. .. In the **Select a field** dropdown menu, select the desired field (for example, `source`). > **Tip** > > Start typing a Coveo field name in the dropdown menu to filter by name, and then select the desired field. .. In the **Select a condition** dropdown menu, select the desired operator (for example, `Must match`). .. In the **Values** field, specify at least one value (for example, `YouTube`). > **Tip** > > To specify multiple values, use a comma to separate each value. . Click **Done** to apply your changes. . Click **Save**. ### Edit tabs . [Access the Insight Panel Builder](https://docs.coveo.com/en/m68b0168#access-the-insight-panel-builder). . Click **Filtering options**. . In the **Tabs** section, click the tab card you want to modify. . In the panel that opens, modify the information displayed in the [**Label**](#TabsLabel) or [**Usage**](#TabsUsage) sections, as appropriate. > **Note** > > Only the **Label** field on the **All** tab can be modified. . Click **Done** to apply your changes. . Click **Save**. ### Delete tabs . [Access the Insight Panel Builder](https://docs.coveo.com/en/m68b0168#access-the-insight-panel-builder). . Click **Filtering options**. . In the **Tabs** section, click the tab card you want to delete. . In the panel that opens, click **Delete** to delete the tab. > **Note** > > The **All** tab can't be deleted. . Click **Delete** again to confirm your changes. . Click **Save**. ### Reorder tabs . [Access the Insight Panel Builder](https://docs.coveo.com/en/m68b0168#access-the-insight-panel-builder). . Click **Filtering options**. . In the **Tabs** section, click [move] on the **Tabs** card, and then drag the card in the desired order. > **Note** > > The **All** tab can't be reordered. It will always appear at the top of the **Tabs** list since it's meant to display all content. . Click **Save** to apply your changes.
