# Platform token
A {doctitle} is a special [JSON web token](https://jwt.io/) which temporarily grants the [privilege](https://docs.coveo.com/en/228/) to [query](https://docs.coveo.com/en/231/) the Coveo APIs as a specific [user](https://docs.coveo.com/en/250/).
These tokens don't currently work with the Search API.
To execute queries and log [Coveo Analytics events](https://docs.coveo.com/en/260/) with the Search API, use one of the authentication methods [that it supports](https://docs.coveo.com/en/102/).
