This article presents [index](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204/) [item](https://docs.coveo.com/en/210/) storage, recommendation, and [persistent query](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1011/) [limits](https://docs.coveo.com/en/262/) associated with the various Coveo [license](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2864/) types and [Coveo Platform](https://docs.coveo.com/en/186/) editions.
## Storage
The storage allocation for a Coveo customer is limited to a certain number of [items](https://docs.coveo.com/en/210/) per Coveo production [organization](https://docs.coveo.com/en/185/).
An _item_ is an element of content in the Coveo [index](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204/) such as a document, an email, an HTML page, or a database record.
Each customer is allocated [items](https://docs.coveo.com/en/210/) based on the [queries per month (QPM)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1391/) and [users](https://docs.coveo.com/en/250/) or agents specified in the purchase order and information in the following table.
Coveo's QPM estimates are based on the information shared by customers, depending on the use case and the customer's search page's current traffic.

**Example**
You have two Coveo Platform [licenses](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2864/) for which [item](https://docs.coveo.com/en/210/) allocations are cumulative:
. **Websites** - **Enterprise** edition with 1 M QPM [item](https://docs.coveo.com/en/210/) allocation: 500 K [items](https://docs.coveo.com/en/210/)/100 K QPM * 1 M QPM = 5 M [items](https://docs.coveo.com/en/210/)
. **Agents** - **Enterprise** edition with 1000 agents [item](https://docs.coveo.com/en/210/) allocation: 20 K [items](https://docs.coveo.com/en/210/)/Agent * 1,000 Agents = 20 M [items](https://docs.coveo.com/en/210/)
The total [item](https://docs.coveo.com/en/210/) allocation is 25 M [items](https://docs.coveo.com/en/210/).
## Recommendations
The [Coveo Machine Learning (Coveo ML)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/188/) [Content Recommendations (CR)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1016/) feature presents a user with most relevant content consulted by other users with a similar navigation history (see [About Content Recommendations](https://docs.coveo.com/en/3387/)).
Each Coveo customer is allocated a limited number of recommendation [queries](https://docs.coveo.com/en/231/) (expressed in [recommendations per month (RPM)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1392/)) per Coveo production organization based on the purchase order and information in the following table.

**Example**
You have two Coveo Platform licenses for which recommendation allocations are cumulative:
. **Websites** - **Enterprise** edition with 1 M QPM
Recommendation allocation: 300 K RPM/100 K QPM * 1 M QPM = 3 M RPM
. **Agents** - **Enterprise** edition with 1000 agents
Recommendation allocation: 3 K RPM/Agent * 1000 Agents = 3 M RPM
The total allocation is 6 M RPM.
## Persistent queries
You can use [persistent queries](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1011/) when you want to produce content from relatively static search results and don't want to impact your query allocation per month (see [About persistent queries](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1630/) and [Render static content using persistent queries](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1009/)).
Each Coveo Platform customer is allocated a limited number of [persistent queries](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1011/) (expressed in [persistent queries](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1011/) per month (PQPM)) per Coveo production organization based on the purchase order and information in the following table.

**Example**
You have a Coveo Platform [license](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2864/) for **Websites** - **Enterprise** edition with 1 M QPM:
Persistent query allocation: 50 PQPM/100 K QPM * 1 M QPM = 500 PQPM
