# Rebuild
A {doctitle} is a [source](https://docs.coveo.com/en/246/) update operation during which Coveo [crawls](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2121/) and re-[indexes](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204/) an entire content [repository](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2739/).

This type of source update consumes more resources than a [rescan](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2711/) or [refresh](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2710/), and can only be performed manually.

> _Rebuild_ can also be used as a verb, in which case it means _to perform a rebuild._
