# Refresh
A {doctitle} is a [source](https://docs.coveo.com/en/246/) update operation during which Coveo [crawls](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2121/) a content [repository](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2739/) and re-[indexes](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204/) any content that has been modified since the last source update.
Some sources can't refresh their content, while others have refresh limitations.

This type of source update consumes less resources than a [rescan](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2711/) or [rebuild](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2712/), and can either be scheduled or performed manually.

>
> _Refresh_ can also be used as a verb, in which case it means _to perform a refresh._
