# User
A {doctitle} is a type of [security identity](https://docs.coveo.com/en/240/) that usually corresponds to a single [authenticated](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2120/) person who can log in to a [search interface](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2741/) to perform [queries](https://docs.coveo.com/en/231/).

A user can be a [member](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2873/) of one or more [groups](https://docs.coveo.com/en/202/), and can also have [granted identities](https://docs.coveo.com/en/201/).
