# Indexing pipeline extension
An {doctitle} (IPE) is a script which is defined in a [Coveo organization](https://docs.coveo.com/en/185/) and can be applied to one or more [sources](https://docs.coveo.com/en/246/) to modify how [items](https://docs.coveo.com/en/210/) are [indexed](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204/).

An administrator can manage IPEs from the [Coveo Administration Console](https://docs.coveo.com/en/183/).
