Adding Visit Metric Cards in Usage Analytics Dashboards
Usage analytics dashboards offer numerous ways to review the data collected by the usage analytics service (see Reviewing and Managing Dashboards).
You can, among other things, add visit metric cards to dashboards to quickly evaluate the number of user visits in which one or more particular events occur, such as a case deflection after a user opened at least an item (see Who Can Perform the Page Actions).
Add Visit Metric Cards in Usage Analytics Dashboards
In an existing dashboard, in the top right corner, access the Edit mode by clicking Edit.
In a new dashboard, the report is by default in the Edit mode (see Creating Usage Analytics Dashboards).
In a section, click the Add a Card button to access the Add a Card dialog.
You can also duplicate an existing card with the Duplicate icon and then only modify what needs to be different (see Duplicating an Analytics Dashboard Element).
In the Add a Card dialog:
Select Visit Metric.
You can proceed two different ways to only keep the visits you want to review. You can add inclusion filters or a combination of both inclusion and exclusion filters. You cannot use exclusion filters alone as no user visits would be included in the card.
Under Metric, click the drop-down menu, and then select the available visit-related metric you want to measure (see Usage Analytics Metrics):
Visit Count: The number of visits regardless of unique IP addresses and user names.
Visit Click-Through (%): The number of visits with at least one click divided by the total number of visits.
Visits with Click: The number of visits with at least one click.
Visits with Manual Query: The number of visits with at least one query performed by a user using the search box.
Query refinements are excluded.
Under Show visits containing, next to at least, click in the drop-down menu, and then select between four event types (an event, a search event, a click event, or a custom event).
Access the dialog to add global dimension filters by clicking the filter addition icon () (see Adding Global Dimension Filters).
Once created, the filter(s) appear(s) under Show visits containing and only the user visits meeting your criteria appear.
You can add filters to apply on another event type by clicking the plus icon . The visits that appear will then match these two parameters.
You want to browse user visits in which an item was opened and a case deflection occurred.
Once you are done with the filters, you can bookmark the web page or copy/paste the URL in the place of your choice to be able to later access the same state of the Visit Browser.
(Optional) When you want to add exclusion filters, select the Exclude visits containing check box and then add one or more exclusion filters.
Once created, the filter(s) appear(s) under Exclude visits containing and the user visits meeting your criteria are excluded.
You want to analyze user sessions containing a specific query, but in which no support cases were created, so you select the check box to then be able to add the following filter:
Click Add Card.
In the top right corner, click Save.
Once done, you can click the card title or value to review the user visits matching the specified criteria in the Visit Browser (see Reviewing User Visits With the Visit Browser).
The same inclusion and exclusion filters are applied in the Visit Browser.
