# Coveo query pipeline
A {doctitle} is a set of [query pipeline statements](https://docs.coveo.com/en/236/) (that is, rules and [Coveo Machine Learning (Coveo ML)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/188/) [model](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1012/) associations) that can modify a [query](https://docs.coveo.com/en/231/) before it's sent to the [index](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204/).

A [Coveo organization](https://docs.coveo.com/en/185/) can contain many query pipelines, and a query must typically satisfy a certain [query pipeline condition](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2793/) to be routed through a non-default query pipeline.

Don't confuse query pipelines with the [Coveo indexing pipeline](https://docs.coveo.com/en/184/).
