--- title: About organization backups slug: '1795' canonical_url: https://docs.coveo.com/en/1795/ collection: manage-an-organization source_format: adoc --- # About organization backups By default, Coveo backs up and replicates your [organization](https://docs.coveo.com/en/185/) and your [customer data](https://docs.coveo.com/en/3135/). This is done in case you accidentally [delete your organization](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1562#organization-details). Coveo performs the following backups: [%header,cols="1,1,2,2"] |=== | | **Index backup** | **Organization backup** | **UA backup** | **Frequency** | Weekly | Daily | Daily | **Retention** | 30 days | 30 days | Configurations: 14 days, data: 1 year | **Privileges** | Read only | Read only | Read only | **Content** | Coveo index | API keys, fields, groups, indexing pipeline extensions, license, mappings, notifications, privileges, sources, security cache schedules | Configurations (such as dimensions, permission and named filters, report configurations) and data (all analytics events) |=== ## Additional information Organization backups can only be used to restore a deleted organization. Restoring a specific configuration or data is not possible. > **Tip** > > To save your own organization backups, use the [resource snapshot feature](https://docs.coveo.com/en/3239/). > You'll then be able to import a previous version of your organization resources to revert unwanted changes. You can't restore a deleted organization yourself. Ask [Coveo Support](https://connect.coveo.com/s/case/Case/Default) to do it for you. Backups are replicated in several data centers and at a remote location. Backup schedules aren't configurable and occur during off-peak hours. Daily [Coveo Analytics](https://docs.coveo.com/en/182/) data backups are retained at the following (possibly overlapping) checkpoints: last 7 days, last 5 Mondays, first day of the month for the last 12 months. An organization backup will fail if there's an inconsistency between a source and its security providers.
