# Referrer
{doctitle} is a Search API [query](https://docs.coveo.com/en/231/) parameter whose value is the URL of the page that linked to the [search interface](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2741/) from which the query originates.

When the `referrer` is specified in a query, the [origin level 3](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1339/) field of the corresponding search [event](https://docs.coveo.com/en/260/) is typically populated with identical data.
