# Tab
{doctitle} is a Search API [query](https://docs.coveo.com/en/231/) parameter whose value is the name or identifier of the [tab](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1406/) from which the query originates.

When the `tab` is specified in a query, the [origin level 2](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1338/) [field](https://docs.coveo.com/en/200/) of the corresponding Search [event](https://docs.coveo.com/en/260/) is typically populated with identical data to allow [Coveo Machine Learning (Coveo ML)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/188/) [models](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1012/) to learn from that contextual information from which the query originates.
