# Origin level 1
{doctitle} is a [Coveo Analytics event](https://docs.coveo.com/en/260/) [metadata](https://docs.coveo.com/en/218/) whose value should typically be the name or identifier of the [search interface](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2741/) from which an event originates.

When logging a Search event, `originLevel1` should always be set to the same value as the corresponding [search hub](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1342/) Search API [query](https://docs.coveo.com/en/231/) parameter to ensure that [Coveo Machine Learning (Coveo ML)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/188/) [models](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1012/) function properly and that [Coveo Analytics reports](https://docs.coveo.com/en/266/) and [dashboards](https://docs.coveo.com/en/256/) are coherent.

Don't confuse this with [origin](https://docs.coveo.com/en/219/), an [indexing pipeline](https://docs.coveo.com/en/184/) stage.
