--- title: About Coveo for Salesforce usage analytics slug: '1265' canonical_url: https://docs.coveo.com/en/1265/ collection: coveo-for-salesforce source_format: adoc --- # About Coveo for Salesforce usage analytics By installing Coveo for Salesforce, you have access to your own [Coveo organization](https://docs.coveo.com/en/185/), where you can access the usage analytics coming from your Coveo components. Coveo components send [events](https://docs.coveo.com/en/260/) to the [Coveo Analytics](https://docs.coveo.com/en/182/) service so that you can track what end users do with your search components. ## Accessing usage analytics reports You can review your usage analytics data by accessing your [Coveo](https://platform.cloud.coveo.com/) ([platform-ca](https://platform-ca.cloud.coveo.com/) | [platform-eu](https://platform-eu.cloud.coveo.com/) | [platform-au](https://platform-au.cloud.coveo.com/)) organization. In the **Analytics** section, select: - **Reports**: For an overview of all your analytics, in graph and chart form (see [Usage analytics reports](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1674/)). - **Data Health**: To monitor and measure your organization data integrity (see [Review data health](https://docs.coveo.com/en/m44f6381/)). - **Visit Browser**: For a detailed description of all events for each [visit](https://docs.coveo.com/en/271/) (see [Review user visits with the Visit Browser](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1964/)). - **Raw Data**: To view and export usage analytics data such as clicks, groups, keywords, searches, and custom events (see [Manage raw data](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1856/)). - **Dimensions**: To define [dimensions](https://docs.coveo.com/en/258/) on custom [metadata](https://docs.coveo.com/en/218/) (see [Manage dimensions on custom metadata](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1522/)). - **Named Filters**: To create sets of filters that you can use on many reports (see [Manage named filters](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1990/)). - **Permission Filters**: To create [permission filters](https://docs.coveo.com/en/265/) to restrict data access in reports (see [Manage permission filters](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1917/)). For more information on how to navigate and understand Coveo UA, see [Coveo Usage Analytics overview](https://docs.coveo.com/en/l3bf0598/). ## About usage analytics events A _usage analytics event_ is any user interaction with a search interface, including but not limited to search, click, and custom events (see [Usage analytics events](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2949/)). The act of recording a search event relies on two elements: the **Cause** and the **Dimension**. - A **Cause** has a name and a type. It's itself a dimension. An example of a cause would be `interfaceLoad` or `facetSelect`. - A **Dimension** is a grouping of metadata key-value pairs principally exploited within the Coveo UA reports. For examples of dimensions, see [Usage analytics dimensions](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1904/). ## Sending custom events To learn how to send custom usage analytics events, see: * [Add custom context to the Hosted Insight Panel](https://docs.coveo.com/en/o28a0498/). * [Add custom context to the Console Hosted Search Page component](https://docs.coveo.com/en/p1td9000/). * [Add custom context to the Community Hosted Search Page component](https://docs.coveo.com/en/p1ua0330/). * [Send context information in Salesforce Lightning](https://docs.coveo.com/en/3290/).
