--- title: Can't see values when using an existing field in a facet slug: '1178' canonical_url: https://docs.coveo.com/en/1178/ collection: coveo-for-salesforce source_format: adoc --- # Can't see values when using an existing field in a facet ## Symptoms When adding a [facet](https://docs.coveo.com/en/198/) to a search page, you ensure the following: * The [field](https://docs.coveo.com/en/200/) you have chosen exists in your [index](https://docs.coveo.com/en/204/) and has also been indexed by the [Coveo Platform](https://docs.coveo.com/en/186/). * The [search interface](https://docs.coveo.com/en/2741/) where you added the facet returns results for the specified field. However, the facet appears empty, as displayed in the following image: ## Cause This usually happens when the [**Facet** option](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1833#facet-and-multi-value-facet) hasn't been set for a field. ## Resolution Set the [**Facet** option](https://docs.coveo.com/en/1833#facet-and-multi-value-facet) for the specified field in the [Coveo Administration Console](https://docs.coveo.com/en/183/).
