# Persistent query

A {doctitle} is a request sent to the Coveo Search API with the proper parameter identifying it as a [query](https://docs.coveo.com/en/231/) for which results aren't updated on each execution, but rather periodically.

> **Important**
>
> Persistent queries are no longer part of product entitlements and have been deprecated.

Don't confuse persistent queries with the [constant query expression (`cq`)](https://docs.coveo.com/en/179/).
